Special correspondence from Wapakoneta Ohio reports the Fourth district Democratic Congressional convention halted after 16 ballots with Garber leading at 114 Adkins 74 Loree 86 and Wagner a suggested dark horse. Indications point to continued deadlock through the day with Garber favored to win.
Senator Quesada, Cuban envoy, asked President Palma to act after a controversial Bragg letter. State Department cautioned Bragg’s publication was unauthorized. Diplomats weigh recall as Cuba nears independence, with U.S. aims to minimize fallout before potential annexation.
Warner, hospitalized after a buckshot attack at D. M. Frederick’s Merriman street home, swore revenge under a ghostly oath about Frederick. Prosecutor Hagelberger notes Warner’s threats, including harming Frederick’s remaining eye, making authorities classify the case as serious and in need of متابعة care.
A Galveston dispatch reports Frank W. Olmstead, former resident of Cuyahoga Falls, filed for bankruptcy with liabilities of $976,000 and assets of zero. At his Hast Market residence on a Saturday evening General Manager F A Selberting hosted twenty two Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co officers directors department heads and branch managers from New York Chicago and other places. General Chas Dick a director toasted the occasion with informal remarks.
Mrs. Elasbeth Sumner widow of Increase Sumner longtime Akron resident dies at home on East Buchtel Avenue Tuesday morning after a two year bed illness. Born September 21 1812 at Ithaca New York she was nearly 92. She lived in Akron 60 years leaving a substantial estate. Funeral will be private and interment in Glendale cemetery likely Thursday.
Local newspaper notes Judge Anderson remains in the city despite rumors of a camping trip at Long Lake. The probate judge is reportedly annoyed by the misreport and denies taking time off while his family stays away.
In Beart Manon Ohio a 10 year old farmer James Conover killed his wife with a club and then tried to kill his son with an axe after sharpening it. He claimed the act was compelled by his asylum history and stood calm on a fence announcing a funeral rather than threshing. Neighbors and authorities restrained him and he is jailed. The family was wealthy and well connected in the community.
Barberton July 15 Fred Hershey keeper of a rink saloon near the Erie depot thought to disregard the law and kept his saloon open last Sunday. Monday he appeared with a Barberton sleuth in Mayor's court and pleaded sunty frop charge of selling litoxicants on Sunday. He was fined 25 and costs.

Philadelphia reports the battleship Maine will depart Cramps yard at 3 PM for a builders’ trial in the Delaware capes on Thursday. Naval observers call her a model vessel capable of 18 knots, with 16,000 indicated horsepower, longer and broader than the earlier Maine, and superior in size and armament.

Miners in Indianapolis prepare for the National convention of the United Ming Workers with opening sessions set for Thursday in Tom Tivon hall. Secretary Wilson expects about 1,000 delegates and roughly 3,000 credentials while President Mitchell attends today. Wilson will refrain from commenting on the convention’s action.
The speaker says Tam is in close touch with local leaders and cannot predict actions. Some delegates are instructed to back a general strike if needed, but most will follow guidance from the convention. The session could last five days, or end in two, depending on the discussions.
