Roof Fell as Father Rescued Children in Harmony Fire
Springfield, C. Jan. 18. A fire in KR Shen’s Harmony home four miles east destroyed the house and contents. The baby daughter died in the flames as the father, who rushed back to save her after rescuing three other children, was badly burned. The roof collapsed just as he returned for the infant.

Train explosion kills engineer and fireman at Victor Iowa
Steam broke bonds of steel as Rock Island Train No 5 passed through Victor Iowa. Engineer W Williams of Brooklyn Iowa and fireman H Hoar Valley Junction died. Two porters and a brakeman were slightly injured. The wreck scattered pieces over 200 feet while seven coaches toppled but passengers were uninjured. The crash happened near the depot as the train was not due to stop there and was running at full speed.

Bank clerk Hurt In Glendale Hill Sled Accident
Ray Cahow of 148 North Howard Street suffered serious injuries Thursday evening after losing control on Glendale Hill. He toppled the sled and plunged off the embankment at high speed narrowly missing a telephone pole. He was found unconscious and taken to A. I. Siegfried's home on Lindale Avenue, then later to his own residence. He remains resting but not yet able to sit up.
