Representative Buchtel predicts a lively spring election as the City Commissioner law may elect two Commissioners and the Mayor may not serve as police court judge. A Police Judge could be needed, with Seese and Buchtel handling changes to ensure the law takes effect.
Special correspondence from Columbus reports Representative Deane of Franklin County intends to introduce a bill to ban marriages between whites and blacks. He argues such unions create hybrids harmful to morals, intelligence, and patriotism, citing statistics on interracial marriages in the state. Purity leagues and women’s societies back the measure.
Thirty three students at the State University are in quarantine due to a measles epidemic. The outbreak is blamed on a restaurant keeper who allowed two sick children to dine among student patrons, spreading the disease.
A meeting in Cleveland led by Mr Herbert Briggs formed a committee to organize an alumni social and issue announcements. Members include Miss Dimle Warner and Rev Carl F Henry with others. Tome Feb 15 reports Dowager Queen Margherita of Italy intends to visit the United States soon. Indications point to a land journey to Hogland then an Atlantic liner to New York. The Queen is said to favor visiting Americans at home and to have been influenced by praise from Mme. Tustorl and others.

Trial expected to proceed to jury by Wednesday evening with Akron and Cleveland residents attending.

In Hammond Med 15 an inquest heard Willie No-Wak deliberately set fire to his baby sister’s clothing and watched her burn. After their father left for work the boy, aged and troubled, locked the children in the kitchen as a cupboard held flammable materials. The kitchen filled with the smell of burning flesh as the child died. the precocious brother calmly admitted lighting the clothes with no shown remorse.
