War office reports casualties among non commissioned officers and privates at Vaalkrants. Twenty four killed, 322 wounded, and five missing. Durham Right latintry captured the hill, with twelve killed and wounded.

The annual average export in 1892–1896 was 40,220,000 pounds, compared with 53,249,025 pounds in the fourteen months of occupation.

The Tuswold Rubber Company plans a three month completion for a new addition outfitted with a 400 horsepower motor and a 090 horsepower engine for heavy work. The upgrade will make electricity the sole motive power for all operations, and about 100 additional workers are expected to join the workforce.
The City Solicitor reviews matters related to the water agreement with Ion Water Works. A committee will meet tonight to discuss the water works issue and obtain Canton statistics on the system. Akron Water Works offers to travel from Detroit in two weeks for conference. Coroner EB Lebertman travels to Galion to examine state agents regarding the Thornton street crossing.
