Frankfort Kentucky February 3 Judge Cantrell issues a temporary injunction against Governor Taylor barring Taylor from assembling the Legislature in London or blocking entry to the State House. Taylor’s lawyers are in Louisville. A federal counterinjunction is sought and 5000 deputies may back Cantrell.
Feb 3 Paris editors use war coverage to argue over the Egyptian question and alleged British troop insubordination in Omdurman. The Figaro downplays Soudan unrest while The Holair urges Europe to secure Egypt if Britain cannot keep order. London dispatches note Boer withdrawals near Ladysmith and possible British counterattack. Mat Sileh, rebel leader in British North Borneo, is reported killed.
A resident voiced strong disapproval of sending a territorial commission to the Philippines. He denounced the affair and the highland proceedings, calling it envied by a dictator and an omen of czarist rule.
Washington Feb 3 Senator Hanna has sent orders to Ohio that James St Garfield must be suppressed. Garfield, son of the late President, has been an anti Cox leader and recently tried to take F C Phillips scalp, who represents the Twentieth Ohio district in Congress. Phillips has appealed to Hanna for aid.
The forecast shows colder air settling across the region with a warming trend later tonight. Expect Sunday to bring snow or rain as a cold front lingers, with unsettled conditions continuing through the weekend.
In Frankfort on February 3 Goebel shows sinking spells and aggravated coughing with no clear change in condition. Doctors say recovery is uncertain and warn of twenty possible setbacks as rumors swirl about arrests and legislative quorum moves.

Special correspondence from Columbus reports The Ohio Coal Mining company versus Thomas B F Smith et al. an error to the Circuit Court of Summit county has been filed in the Supreme Court. The suit seeks an accounting. ROBERT C. RYDER.
Mrs Burlingame of Kearl s town Ohio suffered years of indigestion and limited diet. She switched from coffee to Postum Food Coffee and after three months reports relief from dizziness headaches and indigestion. Daughter J A Gould cites marked improvement and stronger health.
Washington reports the President will replace military rule in the Philippines with a provisional civil administration led by a three to five member commission. The head would become Governor of the Territory, with a secretary and a potential Supreme Court presiding judge. Names canvassed include Roosevelt, Schurmann, Porter, Denby, Grant, Barrett. Roosevelt and Schurmann unlikely. John MacArthur favored for Secretary. martial law to end where pacified and self government possible.
Columbus Feb 8 Senator Long seeks to abandon the Ohio canal from Newark to Lockbourne and from Lockbourne to Portsmouth. He has proposed a memorial to Congress to create a waterway for ships of the Miami and Erie canal. The resolution was set as a special order for February 14. The House supports Archer's joint resolution for adjournment.
