Erie train No 5 from the east, due at 7 08, was two hours late, then three hours. By 10 pm the waln had not arrived and Akron could not estimate arrival. Noon reports show the train stalled at Ravenna and unable to move. Trains 15 and 18 behind it will not arrive until Ravenna clears.

Train Delay Nets Snow Ties Up B and O Line

Eleven hours late tram No. 5 from the East reached the city at 10 a.m. after snow and a landslide near Pittsburgh. Wires were down for hours making tracking impossible. Washington bound service also delayed with no arrival figures while western B and O trains remained on time past Akron.

The Chicago train could not be run beyond Union depot. Dr H D Todd advised on city prison and building needs. Commissioner McMillen issued the order. Todd is a close friend of Mayor Doyle.

No telegrams could reach beyond Akron as Western Union wires to Cleveland failed by nine, and eastern lines collapsed overnight. Train Snowed In Near Hast Market Street Bridge

A freight train north of Hast Market Street bridge was blocked by heavy snow at 4 AM. A horse and snow plow were used by 10 AM to dig it out but the locomotive could not advance or retreat. the train will be annulled.

Deep Snow Special Correspondence In Barberton

Barberton April 20. Special correspondent recalls a fierce April snowstorm. The mayor, nearly a years old, notes a storm on April 7, 1857, with deep snow delaying travel from Newbury Geauga county toward Condola. Snow drifts stood two feet, a barn stuck mid journey, and a four hour wait. On reaching Quebec, the St. Lawrence ice was seven feet thick.
