The Senate approved increasing the debt ceiling from 985 billion to 1.079 trillion dollars in a 64 to 34 vote. Reagan will sign, with the measure taking effect at the new fiscal year start, allowing continued borrowing to pay bills. Salley Man Dead Charged in Salley County Shooting

A Salley man, 70 year old James Henry Grant of Rt. 2 Salley, has been charged with murder after Horace McKie 41 was found dead from a chest gunshot between 1 and 2 a m. The body was sent to MUSC for autopsy per Sheriff Gunnells.
