Paul Burlison Rock Guitar Pioneer Dies at 74
Paul Burlison, influential rockabilly guitarist who shaped sounds for Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, died of cancer at 74 in Horn Lake Mississippi. He rose in the 1950s with hits like Tear It Up Honey Hush Lonesome Train and The Train Kept A Rollin and formed the Rock n Roll Trio with Johnny and Dorsey Burnette winning Ted Mack Amateur Hour in 1956. The Yardbirds Beatles Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith covered his riffs before Burlison started a construction and realty business in 1972 and stayed active until his death.
