Residents who moved or have not voted in four years must register by Saturday Oct 6 at 3 p.m. at the Voter Registration Office in the County Council Office Building. Registration sessions run today at multiple locations including Smith Hazel Recreation Center and Green Wheel Cafe, tomorrow at Piggly Wiggly and Midland Valley High, and through Sunday at several churches and centers with specific times. The Voter Registration Office on Richland Avenue also hosts Saturday hours 9 a.m. to p.m.

Aiken Man Charged With Sexual Assault
Aiken man George Washington Folks Jr. 28 of 321 Fairfield St was charged with burglary and criminal sexual assault with intent to commit after a 30 year old woman reported a man entered her bedroom at 4 39 a m and attempted to rape her before fleeing.

Body Found At Store In Aiken County
A 50 year old Bouchton resident Donald Redd, night clerk at East Side Surf, was found dead in the store on Richland Avenue in Aiken shortly after 3 30 a m. Police say he died from a head wound and the death is treated as a homicide. No weapon or missing money were found. Redd had worked at the store six months and was active in Darrin Baptist Church. An autopsy will follow in Newberry with X rays already conducted at Aiken Community Hospital.
