Iceman samples taken to study 5300-year-old mummy
Scientists defrosted the Iceman at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano and collected bone enamel tooth and tissue samples for testing at multiple institutions. A Glasgow forensic expert will analyze bone and blood to infer cause of death while Zurich labs study lead and strontium in teeth. DNA and gut microbes will be examined to reveal diet and ancestry linking Alpine inhabitants.
