Defense Contract Awarded to J P Stevens Co for Cloth
The Defense Supply Agency awarded a $2.2 million contract to J P Stevens textile company to manufacture 1.1 million yards of cloth. Senator Strom Thurmond announced the work will be done at Stevens plants in Greer and Wallace South Carolina. He also announced an $84,500 loan and $78,500 grant from the Farmers Home Administration to Bucksport Water System in Horry County to serve 800 residents.
