The Savannah River Site accepted about a kilogram of highly enriched uranium from a Jamaican research reactor as part of a U S effort to return material. The HEU, originating in the United States, was sent to Jamaica under an IAEA program and will be blended to low enrichment and distributed to the Tennessee Valley Authority for electricity generation once disposition is complete.
