James Brown Arrested After Chase in Augusta and Georgia
Soul singer James Brown faced multiple charges after a Saturday chase from downtown Augusta across the Savannah River into North Augusta and back into Georgia. He was charged in Georgia with traffic weapons and assault counts and in Aiken County with two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill along with DUI and failure to stop for a blue light. Bail was set at 3900 dollars. Brown waived extratition to South Carolina and was treated for injuries at HCA Aiken before being released. He drove his wife’s pickup and reportedly tried to ram police cars during the pursuit. Brown described the incident as stemming from an insurance class he owned being disrupted in his building. He claimed the people in the class used his office bathroom and said a gun used in the incident was not loaded. He added that everything is all right and that he holds no grudges.
