Aiken Public Safety is searching for 19 year old Laron N Washington of 215 Tall John Lane in Aiken. The 1996 silver Nissan Sentra allegedly struck a dog and dragged it about 197 feet before fleeing. The dog has head and leg lacerations and a ruptured spleen and is being treated. Washington reportedly failed field sobriety tests and blew well over the legal limit.
Aiken man Leonard E. Hicks, 46, was arrested after driving a green Pontiac Grand Am with a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old unrestrained in the back seat. He registered a 0.31 blood alcohol level and faces charges including fifth DUI, driving under suspension, two child restraint citations, habitual offender, and child endangerment. The incident began on Whiskey Road when a reckless- driving report led police to him. Hicks then pulled over after officers activated lights and siren.
Aiken Public Safety investigates a post school fight at Kennedy Middle School where about 20 boys were present in the bathroom as a 12 year old was hit multiple times. The student’s glasses broke and he met with a nurse.
