Local police dismantled a shoplifting ring operating across Aiken Lexington and Richmond counties arresting several suspects while the ringleader William M Fields 35 of Warrenville remains at large. Fields is wanted for felony shoplifting and stole merchandise valued at 7383 22 from the Whiskey Road Target in June.
Aiken City Council plans to review ADDA proposed fountain enhancements at the Richland Avenue Laurens Street intersection. The design includes removing the stone wall, adding brick paving and a ring of bollards to protect the area while keeping the fountain itself. Funding would come from the 1995 Tax Increment Financing District with about 250 000 slated for downtown infrastructure and Bee Lane improvements.
