A dry pattern continues with clear to partly sunny skies across regions. Tonight lows near 50, tomorrow highs in the low 80s, and a three day outlook through Friday to Sunday showing 70s to 80s highs and 50s lows.
The Smith-Hazel Recreation Center announces programs for city residents and non residents with a $5 surcharge for outside Aiken. The Smith-Hazel Youth Club for ages 7 to 17 begins Monday September 27 at 4 pm with activities, fundraisers and clubs. Karate for all ages six and up runs Saturdays at noon taught by Thomas Robersons. Double Dutch for ages 6 to 18 meets Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 4 pm with no charge. Preschool day for kindergartners and preschoolers Fridays 10 to 11 am with games and crafts. Contact Harry D. Holston or the center at 648-0787.
The Aiken Parks and Recreation Department hosts a citywide rummage and bake sale on Saturday Oct 3 from 8 am to 2 pm at Gyles Park with a rain plan for the Smith Hazel Recreation Center Remains open for registration by Sept 28. The sale costs 5 to 8 for space depending on table need. Various classes including Body Dynamics basket weaving painting square dancing quilting calligraphy stress management and advanced floral arranging run through fall with schedules, costs, instructors and locations at H Weeks Center and related facilities.
