Aiken County Council approved a 750000 loan application to the state Jobs Economic Development Authority for Union Color and Chemical of Union as a prospective buyer of the Clearwater Finishing Plant. Worker Crushed To Death In Elevator At Transamerica Pyramid
In San Francisco a Nigerian worker, Washington B. Olaye, 32, was killed when an elevator illegally moved with doors open while he helped a co-worker pull a mail cart into the shaft. Isiah Sampson assisted. both men worked for Montgomery Securities on the 18th floor. Fire crews freed him but he died at the scene. Investigations by federal and state safety officials and Otis Elevator Co. are underway.
