Former North Augusta Mayor Arrested On Drug Charges
Kim Ledford once mayor from 1982 to 1986 and two Augusta men were jailed after a North Augusta undercover operation. Ledford faced multiple counts including distribution and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine two counts of marijuana distribution and proximity to a school. Police reported the search at Ledford’s Bolin Court home near Paul Knox Middle School. Williamson and Aaron were charged with marijuana distribution and related school proximity offenses.

Aiken Legislator Seeks Agency Roles in Elder Care Oversight
Rep. Skipper Perry says he has written 10 state agencies asking them to define their roles in supervising residential care facilities. DSS says it has not placed any clients in the closed Ranson Residential Care Facility, which was shut amid elder mistreatment complaints. The Ransons were arrested Sept. 14 on counts of neglect and face 30 days to appeal the closure with a hearing pending.

Team Leader Thur son Wang said Aiken's Target is on target for an Oct 8 debut. The 125,000 square foot store on Whiskey Road south of the mall will open with 165 employees finishing training after a successful August job fair.

Hundreds of students and teachers from North Augusta High Silver Bluff High South Aiken High and area parents joined See You at the Pole events before school on the third Wednesday in September.
