Amin bars 26 Christian groups in Uganda ban

President Idi Amin bans 26 Christian organizations and the Baha i faith from operating in Uganda. The interior ministry says the groups are not conducive to Uganda's security, naming Seventh Day Adventist Church Uganda Baptist Mission Salvation Army and smaller local sects. Islam and the Anglican Catholic Orthodox churches are to be allowed.

Fire doors locked at Beverly Hills Club in Kentucky fire

Janetta Johnson testified before a House subcommittee that locking fire doors was standard practice at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate Kentucky where 164 people died in the May 28 blaze. She described flames at her back and escaping a crowded Cabaret Room as doors remained closed until moments before many fled.

Contaminated Air From China May Reach U S

Federal officials anticipate an air mass with radioactive debris from a Chinese nuclear test reaching the United States midweek. Uniform magistrates fees set for first reading in Aiken County

Aiken County Council opens with a first reading of a county wide magistrates fee ordinance to standardize charges across the county. The plan, supported by chairman Carrol H. Nursing Home Not Leased Yet Says MIC Officials

MIC officials managing the Aiken Nursing Home say no lease has been signed and no loss of Medicare or Medicaid funds is imminent. Terry Bryant states MIC has a management contract with owner Maxie Collins to run the 86 bed facility for 25 dollars per bed monthly, pending HSA approval. The one year contract is not a lease and no state regulation violations are reported.
