Redevelopment plans target former mill sites with cleanup talks
DHEC documents outline demolition and potential indoor water park at the 350,000 square foot Gregg Plant built in 1949, with new residential and retail investments planned for Vaucluse and Warren mills. Some sites including Stevens steam plant and Avondale Mills data center would be razed, while others become housing and shops. Contamination cleanup could take four to five years under a voluntary program with Community Environmental Company, with public comment accepted through Oct. 10.
