The remarks came after campaign stops in Aiken and a three state tour focusing on Iraq, stem cell policy, and supporting U.S. troops.

Jackson questions inmate hanging in Fountain Inn jail

Rev. Jesse Jackson challenged the police account of Richard Javis Johnson's death, saying the 25 year old was beaten and did not hang himself. He viewed post mortem photos showing bruising and burns, while authorities said cause of death was undetermined and tests pending. Jackson called for a federal investigation as SLED probes the case. Johnson's mother disputed that her son took his own life and Jackson tours South Carolina to urge voter registration ahead of primaries.
