Pedestrian Killed Crossing Highway Near Aiken
John Haney Hughes 62 of Belzoni Mississippi was struck by a car and killed as he crossed U S 1 west of Aiken. Investigator Patrolman G L Yarborough identified the driver as Lannie A Holmes of Aiken. The 6 30 a m crash occurred near the Heart of Aiken Motel where Hughes had been staying and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
