Aiken County Public Library reports Judge Rodney Peeples will not release the August 31 meeting tapes now. Peeples, presiding in Anderson, said release depends on a defined need and will occur later if warranted, with no guarantee to the Aiken Standard.

Aiken County School Board aims for about 30 mills in a forthcoming referendum while bonding and architectural talks determine the exact figure. The plan lists new facilities and renovations including Valley High School 1978 at 3.5 million, Jackson-Beech Island-New Ellenton High at 3 million, Aiken High 3.75 million by 1979, two Area elementary schools 1.3 million each by 1980, and Area IV high school or major renovations at 2 million plus 1 million for existing facilities.
