Grand Jury Hears Case Against Bradley and Chitty
Aiken County grand jury hears a case involving Sgt. W O Bradley of the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Magistrate Lester L Chitty. SLED spokesman Hugh Munn declined further comment as the panel considers whether to return a true bill or no bill. Bradley, State Patrolman of the Year in 1977, is a 10 year veteran and Belvedere resident with Camden roots. Chitty was released recently from Aiken Community Hospital after major surgery.

Decision On Coleman To Come Soon
The Aiken County Council will soon decide the case of Wilmer Bubba Coleman, fired August 11 for negligence and carelessness operating a county dump truck. A public hearing ended with the council stating a decision would come within three or four days. Coleman and James E. Johnson were terminated under the county personnel policy for incident at a gravel pit in New Ellenton, with Johnson having a prior hearing.

Judge Hears Appeal Reversing Magistrate in Cruelty Case
In a General Court session Judge James E. Moore heard William L. Morris of Columbia ask to reverse a misdemeanor ruling linking him to Palmetto Rabbit Cooperative cruelty cases. Morris had resigned as president and contested responsibility for starving animals found by the Aiken Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Also before the court Francis Arthur Downs of Warrenville, 35, faced murder indictment. his wife Mrs. Downs, 43, was charged with killing her estranged husband Clarence L. Downs of Aiken.

Terry Stoudemeyer faces charges of kidnaping and assault with a deadly weapon after an incident at Stein and Wine on Williamsburg Street around 11 30 p m. Karen Sylvester 29 was reported kidnapped at gunpoint. John Henry Reddis Jr 107 Redd Circle was arrested for strong armed robbery at SOC station on York Street around 9 p m.
