Tombstone for Tutt marks end of Springfield gunfight tale
In Springfield Missouri a red Texas granite headstone was dedicated at Maple Park Cemetery for Dave Tutt who was killed by Wild Bill Hickok on July 21 1865. Tutt once ran a Springfield gambling hall and his unmarked grave was relocated from another cemetery in 1883. A local firm donated the marker and the dispute over the death remains part of the legend.
