Herman Danny Atkinson 66 of Aiken S C died September 9 2014. He was an Air Conditioning Technician at Bradley Plumbing and Heating and longtime Hollow Creek Baptist Church member. A service will be held at Hollow Creek Baptist Church at 4 00 PM with Rev Emmett George and Rev Ernest Lewis Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment follows at the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Felton Craig Buster Key Michael Franklin Brian Adams Ernest Ray Johnson and Jessie Rumbley. Napier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of John and Angela Hancock Colyer and is survived by paternal grandparents Barry and Joyce Rhinehart a brother John Colyer Jr a special girl Alisyn Mitchell and many aunts uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents William and Joanney Hancock. She worked as a manager with Office Max in Evans Georgia and attended Graniteville Church of God. She loved football and cherished time with loved ones.

Emilio Botin, the Spanish banking magnate who built Banco Santander into a global financial giant, died at 79 from a heart attack. The board named Botin’s eldest daughter Ana as chair, with Ana Botin, 53, previously CEO of Santander UK. Botin’s hands on leadership and aggressive acquisitions propelled Santander to be Spain’s biggest bank and Europe’s largest by market cap, shaping politics and finance across Latin America. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called the death a surprise and a blow, praising Botin as a great ambassador for the Spanish brand.
The USDA is investigating Hollywild Animal Park in Wellford Spartanburg County after inspectors found rotten carcasses unsafe enclosures and lack of veterinary care. A February inspection cited 15 violations including an injured antelope unvaccinated primates and a wolf dog with seizures leading to euthanization. Park owner David Meeks says staff numbers exceed 50 and rain disrupted housekeeping while he moves animals back to exhibits. He plans to hire a full time veterinarian.
Gulfstream Aerospace announced a 33 million dollar paint facility near Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. The project will expand the company’s campus alongside its 680000 square foot maintenance building, creating at least 100 new jobs. Completion is planned for next summer. Gulfstream employs over 10 000 in Georgia.
