Harte seeks dismissal from Whitlaw malpractice suit over New Ellenton sewer project

Aiken attorney John Harte moves to dismiss from a civil case filed by independent contractor Louis Whitlaw alleging forged name on checks and a civil conspiracy involving former New Ellenton Mayor Randy Shaw. Officer not at fault in fire engine accident

The driver Lt. Frank Conoly was not charged after a 15 year old girl was run over while attempting to board a moving fire engine during a Helping Hands demonstration. Investigators found the driver not responsible and described the incident as a freak accident. The girl remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Aiken Volunteers Rally for United Way Project VISION

Settlement Talks Under Way in New Ellenton Sewer Debt Dispute

Judge Henry F Floyd pressed NationsBank the state and New Ellenton toward a settlement over a $5 million sewer debt amid a marathon negotiating session. Bench warrant issued for alleged sexual battery suspect Tommy Richards

Aiken County circuit judge issues a bench warrant for Tommy Richards after he failed to appear for roll call on Aug 5. Richards, 98, was released on personal recognizance and has not been located, with authorities believing he may have fled the state. Aiken Makin Festival Shoppers Pack Downtown Parkways

Aiken gears up for its annual Aiken's Makin festival with more than 250 arts and crafts spaces and 20 vendor booths filling downtown Park Avenue.
