Discovery Days Begin Midland Valley Showcases Growth

In March 1979, 19 Midland Valley merchants and citizens formed the Midland Valley Merchants and Professional Association starting with 12 members, now 35 from about 100 area businesses along S C 421. Langley Bath Clearwater Gloverville and Warrenville support the group inspired by the Institute of Cultural Affairs which sent volunteers to guide community development. Jeanette Holley chairs Discovery Days and recalls the first meeting’s hopeful momentum and the creation of a local awareness campaign, a decal, and a theme song for Midland Valley.

FBI Tape Details Jenrette Bribery Case and Stowe Payments

An FBI video shows John R. Stowe taking $50,000 from an undercover agent and placing it in a bag while claiming to be a delivery boy.
