Council appoints Lybrand to VPSA council
City Council named Attorney Dorcey Lybrand to the Valley Public Service Authority representing the city. The Authority covers Horse Creek Valley south of I-20 to the Savannah River and from North Augusta to the city limits of Aiken. The council amended the Cooperation Agreement with Public Housing Authority to add 100 units. The housing commission runs 130 units in Aiken and 98 in Gloverville. New units house 46 elderly and 64 with two to five bedrooms. The commission pays 10 percent of shelter rent to the city instead of taxes. The city provides police, water and sewer services.
