Body of former bishop found in Judean desert
The body of James A. Pike former Episcopal bishop of California was found on a ledge in the Judean desert two miles from the last sighting by his wife six days earlier. An Israeli border policeman spotted the corpse and an army helicopter recovered it. Pike, 66, had fallen while attempting to climb out of a deep canyon near the Dead Sea during a trip to research a book on Christ. His wife Diane described him as unafraid of death and now at peace.
