Mir computer shuts down again on space station
MOSCOW AP The Mir space station faced another main computer failure today forcing the crew to shut down most systems to conserve power. Valery Lyndin, Mission Control spokesman near Moscow, said two Russians and one American were not in immediate danger as the malfunction caused the station to lose orientation, with the computer turning itself off around 11 am EDT. The issue, described as “capricious,” is serious though not life threatening and requires a quick fix.
