NEW YORK AP The annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of America raised a record 5 093 385 in pledged contributions. The 20 hour program ended Monday night and ran on 65 stations. Last year’s telethon on 20 stations totaled 2 039 139.

The record toll for any Labor Day weekend was 688 in 1968. The count for the same holiday period last year was 609.
