The Aiken City Council will give first reading to an ordinance annexing perimeter roads during its 7 30 p m meeting on Monday in the Municipal Building second floor. Other business includes drainage and sewer line actions and a railroad easement with Southern Railroad.
Deputy Solicitor Bill Weeks says about 63 cases fill the docket for next week's General Sessions Court with many set for trial. A competency hearing is listed for Mary Frances Pope accused of stabbing her employer in Belvedere. The calendar includes drug and traffic cases as Judge Rodney A. presides starting Monday morning.
Aiken's sesquicentennial advisory committee selected two logos from over 30 entries. Chairwoman Joan Tower said one design fits letterheads placemats and flags while the other suits posters billboards and commemorative items. Both will be used next year for the 150th anniversary.
