Archdiocese, Geoghan Victims Open Tentative 10 Million Deal
Boston Archdiocese reacts to a tentative ten million settlement offer with Geoghan abuse victims after 86 civil suits challenge a prior deal valued up to ninety million. Cardinal Law’s attorney calls the term tentative as negotiations proceed. Lead plaintiffs’ attorney says most plaintiffs have agreed, but final acceptance requires all. The earlier March agreement was rejected in May by the archdiocese finance council.
