Dole Seeks Southern Support At Spartanburg Campaigns
Kansas Senator and GOP vice presidential nominee Robert Dole campaigned in the Spartanburg Greenville area praising his philosophy while challenging Carter. He warned Carter's labor ties and liberalism, noted South Carolina's textile economy, lauded Judge Haynsworth, and planned a return for the Southern 500 race as Carter also attends. About 500 heard him at the Carroll Campbell farm.
