Seven SRS workers exposed in radiation incident at FB Line
The Savannah River Site reported seven workers at the FB Line facility in F Area exposed to radioactive contamination in a routine plutonium 239 repackaging operation. Eight employees were present when an airborne radiation alarm sounded at 10 55 am. Seven contaminated workers were decontaminated and later released after ongoing monitoring. Authorities confirmed the radiation levels were low and within expected conditions at the site. The seven employees will undergo bioassay testing over four to six weeks to assess any internal uptake.
