Car crashes into school bus on Hampton Avenue injuring students

One person died and 13 were injured when a Pontiac Grand Prix struck a stopped bus near Schofield Middle School on Hampton Avenue at 7:30 a.m. The crash sent six students and the bus driver to Aiken Regional Medical Centers, with ER staff converting the lobby into a triage area. School officials coordinated parent notices as emergency crews treated victims.

Murder trial suspended after plea in drug linked killing

Deion Dicks was sentenced to 10 years for involuntary manslaughter in the November 1997 killing of Nathan Bush, 62, in Hahn Village. A cast iron skillet found in Bush’s apartment tied to obtaining money for rack cocaine, ending a planned murder trial after the jury waited over three hours.
