A chart on the 1984 Presidential Election is included on Page 30. The chart shows state-by-state results from past elections with space to fill in this year s returns. It is the first of three charts to be published with tomorrow s chart covering U S Senate and governor races.
Belvedere residents meet Monday at 7 30 p m in Belvedere Elementary School cafeteria to discuss child safety on the way to and from school. The discussion will cover lack of sidewalks and caution lights near the school and a 30 mph speed limit amid several past vehicle strikes. Speakers include Rep Tom Huff Councilman Mike Toole a Highway Department representative and Bill Mack father of a boy hit near the school. Parents are urged to attend with school age children to hear safety guidance from the highway official.
Residents are asked to submit names for the new Aiken elementary near Houndslake. The Area 1 office will receive ideas, with a noon deadline tomorrow. A committee will select about six names for the advisory council, which will choose three for the school board.
Washington AP reports hundreds of scientists and engineers gathered to discuss post space projects including a permanent moon base. NASA head James Beggs said a return to the moon is highly likely before the end of the first decade of the next century.
Continued warm temperatures and possible rain are in the forecast. Tonight and tomorrow will be partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. The outlook for Wednesday to Friday calls for unseasonably warm temperatures with mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies and chances of showers.

Volunteers at Palmer's Restaurant celebrate surpassing the $840,000 goal with a total of $900,203 or 107.1 percent. Campaign chair Charles R. Eason notes $60,000 beyond goal will aid Aikens County agencies as divisions report varied percentages toward targets.
