Aiken Standard will publish three charts by Congressional Quarterly for the November 6 election. Monday’s chart covers the presidential race with space to fill in 1984 returns, and will list each state’s popular and electoral votes from 1976 and 1980.
Mary Frances Pope faces stabbing death charges in Belvedere as her employer case heads to General Sessions Court next week. Susan Henderson notes armed robbery criminal sexual conduct grand larceny of vehicle on docket. Sixty three indictments exist with potential additions as witnesses are subpoenaed for seven trials. The term opens Monday at 10 am with Second Circuit Court Judge Rodney Peeples presiding.
Groundbreaking for the Belvedere North Augusta Community Services Center is set Sunday at 3 p.m. on the old Kirk School property in Belvedere. Aiken County Council budgets 112 500 to build the center housing an EMS substation a sheriff substation and a permanent North Augusta magistrate offices. Construction bids are being accepted with completion expected by June 1985.
North Augusta officials announce a 6:30 p.m. study session Monday to discuss the 1985 budget. City Administrator Charles Martin’s office confirms the meeting is open to the public.

An 8 a.m. November 15 drill simulates a major radioactive release at the Savannah River Plant involving off site agencies. The one day exercise tests emergency plans, communications, evacuations, and sheltering, with a tabletop review in Aiken County and an EOC setup at Graniteville Armory.
Aiken Standard poll of residents shows Ronald Reagan the clear winner over Walter Mondale in a nationally televised debate. Respondents praised Reagan for steadiness and experience while Mondale drew criticism for perceived gaps in knowledge and cramming on foreign policy.
