The 1986 World Series ends tonight with Boston facing New York after a rain delay. Bruce Hurst starts for the Red Sox against Ron Darling for the Mets in Game seven in New York. NBC will carry the game starting at 8 with an 8 10 p m start time.
The U S Mint prepares to resume selling the new gold Eagle coins with 152000 ounces in supply expected to vanish quickly. The coins first went on sale Oct 20 but sold out within a day triggering a suspension of sales.
A Thai Airways jet with 247 aboard suffered a rapid depressurization and a loud bang over Japan, injuring 62 passengers. The An-locked cockpit and loss of two hydraulics forced an emergency landing in Osaka, recalling the 1985 JAL crash. Authorities did not yet know the cause.
A damp weekend ends as sun returns tomorrow with a low in the mid 50s and a high in the mid 70s. Details are on Page 6A.
