Final Tribute Paid to DeVore in Edgefield
Final rites marked the burial of Fudge James William DeVore at the Roman Catholic cemetery. A large crowd from Edgefield and statewide legal circles attended the 11 o'clock service at the Catholic church officiated by Rev. George J Deitz with Rev. L. BE. Forde assisting. Prominent jurists and officials from nearby counties joined associates in paying respects to a distinguished Edgefield figure and former supreme court member. The obituary notes honorary pallbearers and mentions construction plans for a new Colonial style residence in Aiken by Frank Wheatley Co., with Scroggs & Ewing architects and details of the home’s cedar shingle roof and circular entrance.

Merger fight delays Augusta-Aiken Power merger plan
A temporary injunction in Aiken enjoins binding merger votes for the Augusta Aiken Company to join a South Carolina Power group, while allowing a meeting to consider the proposal.
