The Rev. George Homer Murphy 86 of Fishing Creek Maryland died Tuesday October 21 1997 at his residence. He served as a Methodist minister for ten years then became an Episcopal minister later canon of St. Philip Cathedral in Atlanta retiring in 1975. Surviving are his widow Katherine a son George H. Murphy Jr daughters Patricia Ann Murphy and Marilyn Murphy Gasparini a sister Edith Warner and two grandchildren. Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday at Old Trinity Church Church Creek with burial in Old Trinity Churchyard. Memorial fund to Old Trinity Church. Cambridge Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The Aiken County Library hosts child friendly activities with a Halloween story time on Thursday October 30 from 7 to 6 p.m. Children may wear costumes and refreshments will be served. They can vote for their favorite book character until November 17 at the main Chesterfield Street library, with a winning character honored the following week.
