Flow tests show no harm to Savannah River at low flow

Augusta engineers report tests indicate a minimum river flow of 500 cubic feet per second would not harm the Savannah River when the Augusta canal hydro plant operates. Tests ran at 900 cfs with a three hour dip, and fishery studies found no endangered species. Local concerns from Aiken and Edgefield counties cite potential drops in riverfront property values and the federal intervenor status of South Carolina. Representative Derrick opposes the project, arguing it could produce mud puddles during low flow periods.
