Capote Leaves Jail After 18 Hours in Orange County

Best selling author Truman Capote, 46, was released after serving part of a three day contempt of court sentence. His physician reportedly urged the judge in New York to release him for health reasons, and Capote said the jail experience was uncomfortable and he has no plans to write about it.

Courtmartial Postponed for My Lai Case at Fort Hood

S Sgt David Mitchell's court martial has been postponed indefinitely due to the illness of civilian lawyer Ossie Brown. Brown, 44, collapsed in a Killeen motel room and is under internal medicine testing. Col George R Robinson ordered the delay after an initial Monday delay.

Young Bank Robbers Charged After Buffalo Heist

In Buffalo New York two youths aged 14 and 13 were charged with robbing a Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co branch. They were arrested 15 minutes after the heist and about $3 056 was taken with roughly $1 900 recovered from the older boy and about $1 200 from the younger. The 13 year old carried a cap pistol and the 14 year old a starter's gun as they approached separate tellers.

Aiken Civic Ballet Receives State Charter

The Aiken Civic Ballet gains its charter from South Carolina. Carl Crosby named director. the company includes 15 dancers from Crosby School of Dance and a junior company. First Nutcracker performance, sponsored by the Aiken Junior Women's Club, is set for early December with Carolina Ballet Company of Columbia as a partner.
