Suburban Land Boom Transforms Aiken Area Markets
Aiken and North Augusta see rapid subdivision of land as zoning lags. Prices for building lots near I-20 and Kalmia Hill soar, with some earlier city lots more than doubling in value. Builders note costs rising from 10 to 15 per sq ft and lot prices from 3 000 to over 6 000, while demand for modest homes grows amid financing shifts.
