Charleston Welcomes Katz Family Citizenship Ceremony

The Katz family from South Africa became new U S citizens on James Island after ten years in America. Barry Katz, a MUSC resident, plans to practice in Charleston, while brother Martin closes his degree next year. They praised James Island and South Carolina as excellent places to live. Officials from American Legion, Daughters of the Confederacy, DAR, Mayflower Society, and Colonial Dames attended, and the oath was administered by Pat Fernandez. The Rev Ken Nelson offered a blessing and the community prayed for a nation built on respect and good works.
