Heath announces for sheriff in Aiken County race

Heath, 46, former chief of detectives for the Aiken Department of Public Safety, resigning in March to run as Republican candidate. A Navy veteran and 14 year officer, he cites rising drug traffic and crime, says current department lacks training and management, and promises improved cooperation with other law enforcement agencies in the county.

Coopers Treated Well After Manila Bomb Incident

Fred and Betty Cooper owners of Crest Travel Agency were injured in a bomb blast at a travel agents conference in Manila. They were near the explosion that followed a Marcos address and are receiving hospital care. The April 6 Liberation Movement claims responsibility. The couple hope to fly home by Friday.

PSA Budget Keeps ICR Money Amid Act Repeal Debate
