Veteran tap choreographer inspires local dance students
Sara Waltz and about 35 peers took part in a weekend workshop with Charles McGowan a tap choreographer from Buffalo New York. Burns said the visit offered fresh ideas and a chance to learn musical theater choreography as McGowan recalled his film and stage career including A Chorus Line Grease 2 and Dream.

Halloween Events Hit Aiken Area With Pet Contest and More
The Bone i side Bakery hosts the Second Annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest to aid Midlands Golden Retriever Rescue on October 25 with a $5 entry fee and prizes including a year’s supply of treats. Over 50 dogs attended the first event in 2002 raising funds for the rescue. The Jack O Lantern Jubilee follows at downtown North Augusta the same day with performances and a children’s costume contest from 10 am to 4 pm. Aiken Community Playhouse holds Volunteer Orientation on October 25 at the Washington Center from 10 am to noon with tours, a light lunch, door prizes, and a gift for participants. Breast Cancer Awareness Day is October 25 at Aiken Mall Health Information Center 10 am to 2 pm with self-exam information. Roy Warner Memorial Park hosts harvest party on October 27 from 6 to 9 pm for ages five to adult with games and refreshments. The Aiken County Public Library schedules a Halloween party for grades 1-5 on October 30 at 4 pm.
