Anderson County deputies say Edrick Perego 85 was arrested after an undercover sting over intent to hire someone to kidnap and beat a former business associate. He faces solicitation to commit first degree assault and battery and kidnap. He is jailed without bond.
Tests on more than 20 dead crows in Beaufort County found no West Nile virus or eastern equine encephalitis. A veterinarian noted disoriented live crows improving after exposure to fruit fermentation. Separately, the U.S. Justice Department will meet with South Carolina AG on the new immigration law, set for October 26.
