Aiken County Council caps spending awaiting a midyear audit. After W Scott Barnes notes three fourths of contingency fund used in a quarter, ordinances to hire three more employees are tabled. If approved eight new workers would add about 120000 in payroll, roughly 1 mill in taxes.
North Augusta Historical Society chairman Lark Jones told North Augusta Rotary Club members about the city’s incorporation in 1906 and its rich history. He noted three Kroger stores within a quarter mile and that the society has 70 members meeting quarterly.
The Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce is narrowing its search for a replacement for Mary Mittelberg who retires at the end of September. Past president Kelly F. Zier said the response to ads has been strong with many applications from South Carolina and some from outside the state.
